The Chaisson Trio - Every Monday!
The Chaisson Trio will be hosting a weekly ceilidh every Monday starting June 24, 2019 at the Historic Stanley Bridge Hall. The group is comprised of Kevin Chaisson, Rannie MacLellan & Louise Chaisson-MacKinnon.
Kevin Chaisson, who is a piano player from Bear River, Prince Edward has deep roots in traditional music on Prince Edward Island. The Chaisson family have been widely acclaimed as being influential in keeping traditional fiddling alive on Prince Edward Island and also operate the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival each year. Several Chaisson family members represent Prince Edward Island on the international music stage most notably Kevin Chaisson’s son, Tim from the East Pointers.
Rannie MacLellan the fiddle player in the group is from Margaree, Cape Breton. MacLellan’s signature rhythmic strathespeys and lively reels are a highlight of the ceilidh showcasing the Cape Breton style of fiddling inspired by various fiddlers like the late Jerry Holland, a dear friend of MacLellans. Well versed fiddle fans will know that Cape Breton fiddler, Brenda Stubbert wrote a tune in honor of MacLellan called “Rannie MacLellan’s Reel”.
Louise Chaisson- MacKinnon, the vocalist of the group has a soulful voice and has a large repertoire of lively maritime songs to share.
